Martin Hlaváček spoke in a debate on the Common Agricultural Policy.
Rural environment, farmers, consumers and citizens have been waiting for three years for us to agree on the direction of the CAP and vision for our rural area, that´s what is in a stake. We should not delay any longer. Our citizens do not understand why after such a long time we are not able to reach agreement, especially in these difficult times. Those who do not want to agree really put the support of the European project at risk and they play to the hands of those who do not want the European project. I am happy that my group Renew Europe is not one of them. We are talking about the greening architecture and the CAP and we want to be part of the this ambitious plan that will protect our land better and in more efficient way, it will protect our air, our landscape and as you know that is something that you cannot do without agriculture and without the rural areas. They want to be a part of the solution and they can be sure that their efforts will be supported with sufficient and economic conditions. We also need to talk about solutions, which will maintain common agriculture policy and things that are against unfair competition. We wish that our voting this week would not result in a mixture of various voices. It needs to be well thought policy and that is the only possibility for us to become a good partner for the Council of the European Union and for the European Commission for our negotiations in the upcoming weeks. It is the only way to make sure that our citizens will understand that we are able to reform this vital policy.
